There’s nothing like a leisurely morning with a steaming mug of coffee by the campfire. Here are 5 ways to brew the perfect cup!
1. French Press
A simple method that is perfect for camping, avoid grit when brewing in a French press by using beans that are coarsely ground. Pour the boiling water over, give it a good stir, and then let it sit for 4-6 minutes. Press down gently, pour, and enjoy!
2. Cowboy Coffee
Hot water, coffee, a pot, and a campfire, no filter needed.
Using 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every cup of water, either stir the grounds into your pot as it comes to a boil, or wait until it’s reached boiling to stir them in. Remove from the heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir the pot, and then allow the grounds to settle for another few minutes before pouring out slowly.
A long-time camping staple, percolator pots still make a great, strong cup of coffee over the campfire. The bottom of the kettle is filled with water and brought to a boil, with coffee grounds in the basket overtop to percolate.
4. Pour over
Not just for fancy coffee shops, pour over coffee is a simple way to enjoy a great cup of coffee at the campground when you don’t want to make a whole pot. Find a pour over stand and filter that sits over your mug, add your favourite grounds, and slowly pour the hot water through.
5. Instant Coffee
It doesn’t get much easier or easily portable than instant coffee! Boil water, stir, and sip.
