See cherry blossoms in Vancouver
The end of winter in Vancouver is met with a dazzling display of cherry blossoms. Lining the city streets and taking centre stage in many parks, you don’t have to look far for these spring beauties. The annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival runs from April 4th-28th in 2019, and includes a wide array of events in the city, as well as neighbourhood maps so you can find all the best blooms.
Head out for some spring skiing in Banff
Spring in the Rockies doesn’t mean the end of ski season, it means more hours of daylight on the hill! With the longest non-glacial ski season in North America, the ski resorts in Banff National Park are open until late May. Ski at Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort or Mt Norquay, and set up camp at the Tunnel Mountain Village II campground, located just outside the town of Banff.
Enjoy the celebration of swans in Whitehorse
Travel north on the Alaska Highway and experience spring in the Yukon with the Celebration of Swans. Each year, in the month of April, birdwatchers are treated with the sight of thousands of Trumpeter Swans as they migrate. The Celebration of Swans is the territory’s premier bird festival, with viewing areas and events at Swan Haven on Marsh Lake.

All the colours of spring are in bloom at the annual Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa, from May 10th– 20th this year. The festival celebrates the historic Royal gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians during the Second World War as a symbol of international friendship. A long-standing tradition, the annual Apple Blossom Festival has been celebrating the area’s agricultural history since 1933.
