A warning...
Don’t be deceived when you sell your RV!
People advertising their RV for sale are being contacted by individuals posing as potential buyers, however, the style of the inquiry is similar to a frequently attempted scam.
Example: The fake potential buyer responds by email to an ad placed by a legitimate private individual. He claims to be interested in buying their RV. In the exchange of emails, the fake potential buyer explains that he is representing a third-party buyer in the transaction. He says that he will send a driver to pick up the RV and deliver a bank draft to pay for the vehicle. However, the bank draft is for an amount higher than the price of the vehicle because it is from an earlier transaction that was not completed, so he asks that the seller of the vehicle issue a refund for the difference between the selling price and the amount of the bank draft when the RV is picked up and payment delivered.
What the people selling their RV don’t know is that the bank draft they receive for more than the selling price is a counterfeit. By the time the seller deposits the draft and then the banks sort out that it is a counterfeit, the person delivering the counterfeit payment has picked up the RV, transferred the vehicle’s ownership and taken a refund payment from the seller – never to be seen again.
