Take your holiday cheer on the road with these tips and tricks
Are you spending the holidays in your RV and think you don’t have room to deck the halls? We disagree. You don’t have to go all-out with decorations to create a space that is big on Christmas cheer. Here are the decorating trends we’re seeing, and some of our favourite tips and tricks to make even the smallest RVs feel festive.
Keep it temporary to protect your walls
To begin with, stock up on damage-free hangers. CommandTM Brand adhesive hanging hooks are easy to install and won’t damage your walls or cupboards. For hanging decorations on the exterior or windows of your RV, try suction cup hooks.
Replace your usual décor
Rather than adding more, swap out what you already have with holiday-themed replacements. Your usual throw pillows, blankets, rugs, tablecloths and dinnerware can all be replaced with seasonal ones. By simply replacing these everyday items, you can add holiday cheer without your space feeling cluttered.
String up some lights
Swap out your usual outdoor lights for a string of Christmas lights. They can be easily attached by using awning clips and will add instant Christmas cheer to your site.
Keep your tree tiny
A Christmas tree will fit in even the smallest of RVs, if you use a tabletop version. Live or artificial, add your favourite (non-breakable) ornaments and place it up on a side table. Use a basket with handles to hold the base of the tree, making it easy to pick up and relocated when you hit the road.
Bring in a holiday Scent
Holiday aromas will instantly invoke a festive atmosphere. Put out a bowl of potpourri, scented candles or room spray in fragrances like pine, gingerbread or cinnamon.
Ditch the delicate
If you can, avoid anything precious or breakable. Stick with metal, paper or wood ornaments so you don’t need to worry about anything breaking on the road. A bonus of flat, non-breakable decorations is that they take up less storage space when it is time to put them away.
Dress your windows
An easy way to add seasonal charm to a small space without the bulk is with removable window clings, like snowflakes or winter scenes.
Add a wreath
What’s more welcoming and home-like than a wreath on your door? Choose something small and light that can be easily hung with a removable adhesive hanger, suction cup hook, or an over-the-door wreath hanger.
There’s no need to leave all the decorations at home when you head out on the road, and we hope you’ve found some inspiration! If you’ve already decorated, what are your favourite ways to bring Christmas cheer to your RV? Let us know in the comments below.
